ActuallyAmy songwriting workshops provide children and young people with an expressive outlet using lyrics and melody writing incorporated into a song. The workshop can be known to build confidence and self esteem in children and young people. Come along to make new friends, have some fun and create something unique to you!
Emphasis is on the individual, and it is accessible to disabled and SEN children just as easily as able bodied. Inclusivity is an important part of the mantra we have at ActuallyAmy Songwriting.
Song themes can be tailored to any subject.
The end product is a professional CD recording of their song with an instrumental track to sing live. Lastly, the song is uploaded to the Apple iTunes store and Soundcloud to download for free!

Amy has been teaching Robyn piano and singing since she was 12, Robyn was keen not do exams and go down the grades route, so they concentrated on composing and that sort of thing. Robyn wants to be a singer song writer and is influenced by people like Emeli Sande, Adele and Billy Joel, so quite contemporary, but Amy introduces her to older stuff too. She’s also attended several of Amy’s Singing and Confidence workshops which run for about a week and cover everything from composing, singing, dancing and performing, to recording and designing album covers and at the end of it all they put on a show. Amy is very enthusiastic and the children really like her, I know Robyn loves Amy; she’d rather go to one of Amy’s workshops than go on holiday with us!
I discovered Actually Amy Songwriting when my daughter, Phoebe had a superb day when Amy ran a holiday club. I was so impressed that I contacted Amy and asked if she could help create something special for my Brownie pack as part of our One Hundred Birthday celebrations. Amy has such a natural way with children, everything is positive and she listened patiently whilst sowing the seeds for all of their ideas. During just two, two hour sessions Amy wrote a song with the Brownies, helped them design a front cover for the CD and then put the song to disc. I can't rave enough about what Amy managed to achieve with the girls!
My two have done 3 of Amy's workshops and love them. In fact we were singing one of the songs they wrote today walking round the woods. A worthwhile and valuable experience for them both. Amy is excellent with the children and knows how to get the best from them.
We love Amy's workshops. She has an exceptional combination of skills which make all the difference. Amy runs no-pressure, fun workshops, full of fun and creativity - but she also has all the music qualifications to provide high quality music too.
Highly recommended.

Since completing her Bachelor of Music degree at Royal Holloway, University of London, Amy now works as a professional musician and teacher in London. Whilst studying, Amy received the highest mark in her final year for composition (recognised by the ‘Brian Dennis Memorial Prize’) and now aims to pass that knowledge on to her students and the young people she works with in her workshops. Also a private instrumental tutor, Amy is passionate about helping each student reach their potential and strives to make her lessons fun and inspiring. Whether students want to work through the exam system, or simply play for pleasure, Amy will tailor their lessons to suit their needs. Amy helps students to: - be inspired by learning a new instrument - pass music examinations - achieve a higher ability to sight-read - increase confidence - learn more about the theory of music - improve general musicianship - expand repertoire
We have known Amy for a few years now and both my children have been taught piano by Amy. They have also both been to Workshops over the school holidays where 'Actually Amy' runs a two day or one week workshop, where they do dance, songwriting and singing, Amy helps the children write songs about a theme for the workshop and once Amy helped my daughter write an extra song and recorded it. My children love her! She is a very approachable person, very kind natured too, We would really recommend Amy.
