About Woodstock Day Nursery
Woodstock Day Nursery is situated between suburban and commercial Worthing, near the Splashpoint swimming pool and a stone's throw from the beach and Homefield Park. Woodstock's premises is a large detached house with ample grounds, converted into a homely nursery and regularly maintained. We understand that every child is an individual and will reach the Early Stepping Stones at their own pace. The Keyworkers regularly carry out observations and update the each child's Individual Development Profile to ensure that we are offering the experiences best suited to each child. As the children grow and progress through the different age groups, activities are offered to extend their experience of the world about them and to encourage imaginative play. Woodstock's garden has a large central artificial grassed area and several hard play areas. Also in the grounds is a our new playhouse and climbing frame/slide for the children's play plus a very large sand pit and a covered area for wet play.
The nursery is light and airy, and the children are given broad scope for creative play. Also included in their daily activities is a healthy and inspiring mix of role play, problem solving, communication and the opportunity to stretch their ability for more academic skills such as mathematics and word recognition. Free play is also an important part of their day.
The children's creative and craft work is displayed around the nursery, which effectively nurtures their self-esteem. Seasonal displays give an enhanced connection with the world they live in, and promote an interest in self-education.
Strong emphasis is placed on the outside world, with regular trips outside the nursery to exciting and educational places, from the local beach to a working (and child-friendly!) farm. We have two parks very close to the nursery, the beach is only across the road and the main Worthing library a short walk away.
Personal Development Records are kept for every child attending the nursery and these are always available for parents to read. We encourage the children's independence in every way possible to prepare them for their move on to school with different expectations and new friends.
