About The Sayers Croft Environmental Educational Trust

The Sayers Croft Trust was established in 1996 as a registered charity to involve the local community, especially young people, in the enjoyment and care of the environment. Over the year's the Trust has grown from a small charity involving just a few hundred children annually to what is now a valuable part of the community - engaging over 3,500 children and families each year.

By working in partnership with the Sayers Croft field centre, the Trust aims to make all the facilities of Sayers Croft available to those who may otherwise be unable to access them due to physical, financial or social disadvantage. With this in mind we run regular school and group day visits as well as dedicated holiday activities for children with additional needs which are heavily supported through grants and donations. There are many facilities for wheelchair users including accessible toilets and ramps.

Based in a beautiful 56-acre site, the Trust has a variety of habitats just waiting to be explored including ancient and managed woodlands, meadows, ponds, streams and fields. Our dedicated activity base, The Burrow, is available for free use by local groups and organisations and we are also lucky enough to have many historic facilities such as original WWII air raid shelters (from when the centre was used as an evacuation centre for a boys school from Kent) and a reconstructed Iron Age roundhouse. Other facilities include: wildlife hides, outdoor solar heated swimming pool, ropes courses, climbing tower, zip wire, maze, rafting pond, campfire areas and much more! The Trust runs a varied programme of activities and events throughout the year including regular themed youth clubs for 0-11year olds, fun and adventurous holiday activities, craft days, camping weekends, conservation days, evening talks and events, fun seasonal activities, birthday parties for families as well as educational and team building days for schools. There are plenty of ways to get involved!

The Trust exists to serve and support the local community and takes an active role in education and conservation. By providing fun, adventurous and challenging activities for young people we hope to create good relationships, increase self esteem, and foster a sense of responsibility and community spirit. We look forward to seeing you at some of our activities soon!
