Christian Bates qualified as an osteopath and naturopath in 1997. In 2008 he opened the award-winning Perrymount Clinic in Haywards Heath. Through his years treating babies for colic and other birth traumas Christian has built up a strong reputation with local midwives and health visitors, and the Perrymount Clinic is frequently recommended by them when referring babies.
Christian looks at all his patients holistically, using both physical therapies and nutritional advice, and his treatment of babies is no different. He will always use a combination of cranial osteopathy and nutritional advice for both baby and parents.

As Christian treated babies over the years he started to see patterns in the causes behind their colic, and from these he developed his own treatment protocols. He then started to investigate the scientific research on these causes and found plenty to back up his theories. The Calming Colic ebook has therefore been written using a combination of clinical experience and scientific data. Christian’s hope is to help as many babies and parents as possible with this ebook and to dispel the myth that colic is an unknown and untreatable problem.

Christian was recommended to me as someone who could help babies after a troubled birth or a c-section. As I experienced both, I took Aryana along at just two weeks old and after a couple of sessions she was much more relaxed. When Christian puts his hands on Aryana, you can actually see her physically relax. Christian is very very good with other children too and a friend with a little boy has also found her baby so much calmer after sessions with Christian.
Christian has been absolutely brilliant. A friend recommended Christian when I mentioned that I was having trouble settling Barnaby as a new born, much more than with his older brother and sister. The friend said Christian had had amazing results with friends’ babies so I went along. We have been to four sessions so far and it is like a switch has been flicked and Barnaby became a different baby: much more settled and chirpy. The book that Christian has written is great too and very helpful alongside the sessions. The whole experience has been super and I totally recommend parents to see Christian for help with their colicy babies.
In the handful of times we visited with our son, we received a caring and personal service from all we came into contact with. Christian was incredibly reassuring and answered all our questions. As a new mum, I felt comfortable to ask any questions. My little one was never distressed in his treatment and we could certainly see progress after just one session. Thank you very much.

We were recommended to Christian by several people who could not speak highly enough of him. She has now had three sessions with him and is so much better. From the first appointment (we were lucky to get a cancellation and managed to see him within 2 days of trying) the effect was almost instantaneous. Her peak time each day was between 7pm and 11pm and now she just gets occasional bouts which makes things so much easier for us as well as her. I was so impressed seeing Christian with my daughter that I have also had a couple of treatments with Christian using cranial methods.
