Stagecoach is the longest running performing arts schools network in the world. We ensure that each child gets the most out of their experience by building life skills and confidence while having fun. Stagecoach students learn the core skills of dance, drama and singing with some of the best teachers in the business. These skills will make them better performers while at the same time improving their confidence and presentation and allowing them to share their imaginative ideas.
Your child will participate in the three disciplines of the performing arts in a weekly three hour session. Children are split into three groups of similar ages and study each of the disciplines of singing, dancing and drama for one hour in detail. They are taught to express themselves creatively and effectively whilst learning at their own speed.
'Early Stages' will introduce your child to drama classes, dance classes and singing classes in a 90 minute session, split into 30 minute sections. Classes are small in number, allowing us to nurture young talent whilst encouraging and inspiring those who might need additional confidence.
As a parent you’ll notice an improvement in your child’s confidence and communication skills, including clearer diction and a wider range of vocabulary. Students also grow in self-esteem and social awareness.
Stagecoach Haywards Heath runs drama classes, dance classes and singing classes from St Wilfrids Primary School, Eastern Road, Haywards Heath, RH16 3NL - covering Haywards Heath and all surrounding towns and villages.
Fees are payable per 12 week term as follows:
Early Stages - £162 a term (90 minutes)
Main School - £324 a term (3 hours)
We offer various payment options and there is always the chance to trial our classes before committing to a term.
We do have a uniform but this is not compulsory - we only ask that students wear the school colours of black and yellow with appropriate footwear.
Carl has been attending Stagecoach for two and a half years and Christian has been attending for about a year. Carl can be quite shy and an introvert, but Stagecoach has helped build his confidence, give him a creative outlet, meet new friends and do things he wouldn't have had chance to do at school. Christian is more theatrical and it's lovely that they can both go together. They do drama, fun exercise and singing/talking, which helps them project - and they have fun! They both love it and run in as soon as the bell goes. Carl was in a show Aladdin last year as the Chief Guard and he loved it. They do a pre-summer rehearsals and put into practice what they have learnt. They are just rehearsing for their new show, The Snow Queen, this year; Christian is a crow and Carl is a robber.
The teacher, Rebecca, comes from a professional background and does drama and ballet. She is friendly, professional and disciplined. They are learning new skills and have a chance to practice others, like concentrating and listening. I get a report card
at the end of each term, which tells me how they are progressing. I'm really pleased with the school.
Erin has been attending Stage Coach since she was 4 years old and my other children, Thomas, Freya and Dylan now all attend as well. The children in the bigger stages complete a 3 hour session split into an hour each of Drama, Singing and Dancing. The Early stages session last for 1.5 hours and each discipline is 1/2 hr each. We get to see how they have progressed with their acting skills and singing. They demonstrate their skills by doing shows and performances. It has been a confidence builder and a great form of exercise. It has also taught them to be social and they now have a huge set of friends. Erin also attends the Performance troupe where she can participate in extra shows. She stays longer after her class ends. The children absolutely love it. Jane, the Principal and all the teachers are lovely and very patient. They are always enthusiastic and the children like them and get on really well with them. We get 2 yearly reports on their progress. They wear a uniform as well. The dance school looks after everything, even down to the props and costumes, which is part of the cost of the class so there are no extra charges. It's held at a school so the children are used to the facilities and there are activities in different rooms, toilets, stage etc.
Natalie and Emily have been going to Stage Coach for the past six years. The venue is very good- it is in a safe primary school environment with plenty of parking. There is plenty of room to divide the classes between drama, singing and acting as these are allocated an hour each per week. There is a mixture of children from all ages and backgrounds and the classes are divided by age groups.
The level of teaching is excellent and all the teachers are very approachable and enthusiastic about their work and each pupil. It's very friendly, welcoming and relaxed environment. I have previously used other similar classes but Stagecoach excels. Jane, who runs the Haywards Heath branch, is really wonderful- great communication and the children love it. The end of term shows which Stagecoach put on are very good and of high quality. Natalie and Emily have received very high levels in their “Lamda drama” exams with Stagecoach. I found out about Stage Coach through a friend and she recommended it.

Jane trained at the John Moore University, Liverpool, where she obtained a BA(Hons) degree in Drama and English. She has toured extensively throughout the UK in No.1 tours of Abigails Party, The Ghost Train and A Murder is Announced to name but a few. She appeared in the West End playing Suzette in Don't Dress for Dinner at the Duchess Theatre for several years and has been fortunate enough to perform at some of the countries long standing rep theatres playing many diverse roles from Aykbourn to Shakespeare! A professional actress since 1988, Jane continues her career alongside Stagecoach and has more recently been seen in numerous commercials on tv. She lives in Brighton with her actor husband, Patric, and their two daughters, Catie and Fleur.
Phoebe has aspergers so has confidence and self esteem issues which Stagecoach have really helped with, seeing her perform you can really see they’ve done wonders and she’s full of confidence on stage. It’s great for her to be involved in something outside of school where she can really excel, she has a good vocal range and can do accents when she’s acting. The teachers at Stagecoach are brilliant, they’ve been so patient with her, and everyone including the other children are like a big extended family, it’s a very nurturing environment. I thoroughly recommend them, the shows they put on are amazing, and Phoebe literally squeals on Saturdays, she wouldn’t miss a class for the world.
