    Schools

Fun and Education with snakes at school.      Each session lasts 45mins.These visits create a new dimension to a child’s experiences. Sue will answer everyone’s questions and break down all those myths about snakes, created by bad press and media hype.

Science week, Nature week, Wild week call it what you like, Sue and her snakes will make it an unforgettably fun week.

Do you know if snakes have ears?  Sue does and much more.

    Fetes and Community Events

Frightened or not, everyone is fascinated by snakes. Sue has kept and cared for rescued snakes since 1996, there are no venomous snakes in the sanctuary.  She will bring fun, education and entertainment to your event. 20 to 30 snakes and approx.  4 to 8 volunteers. If we come along to your event it will be the talk of the town. Sue has many homeless snakes to look after, but they are ready and willing to work for their keep, they are friendly, non-venomous and non-aggressive: they love to be out and about keeping company with people.

Half price for Scout Groups, Special Needs a speciality.

NOTE: Snakes cannot regulate their own temperatures, less than 18c is too low and more than 28c is too high. We can only run outside events in warm weather and then our best spot is under trees as they help keep the temperature down.

    • For this year only we are charging £1 per child for schools in our local area Harwich and Dovercourt the schools are very small here so when we visited St Joseph's Primary School the cost was £115 the PTA had no trouble raising the money.

I booked Snakey Sue's Serpent Sanctuary for Jack's birthday party because he is really into reptiles and snakes. Sue came along to the party venue at our local village hall and started by giving a really interesting talk to the children with them all sat in a semi-circle. What really impressed me was how the children were then allowed to handle the snakes which they loved! Sue kept a really close eye on them, but they loved the freedom of being able to actually handle the snakes themselves. Some of the children were scared of snakes before the party, but afterwards wanted one of their own! I was really impressed!

I've got 4 children and we first used Sue for one of my older children’s birthday parties and now all 4 of them have had her for a party. She brings along a basket of snakes which she has often rescued or adopted and teaches the children all about them, where they come from and she lets them have a hold too. She also brings with her a whole snake skin to show them how they shed so it’s educational but at the same time the children really love it - she is very good at getting a group of ten 8 year old boys focused! The children have always talked about the party after at school and you feel as a parent that you've given them a really successful birthday party. The children love her, she’s very good at what she does and very reliable so I would highly recommend her.

She came with two baskets with about 14 snakes and got them out one by one while explaining to the kids how to hold them and not to hold them. She was really knowledgeable and was able to tell them about the snakes and answer all the questions they had. The snakes got passed around and at one point everyone in the room had a snake, from little ones right the way up to a massive around the shoulder one! It was better than I thought it would be as I didn’t know what to expect, but she was great, really king to the children and it was a really good experience, I’ve recommended her to loads of people since.

    • Kate, Mum to Pip (10) and Bruno (8)

We used Snakey Sue for the boy’s birthday when they were 8 and 6, she brought about 20 snakes including an 8 foot Boa, all in baskets. She had a really good command of the situation considering there were quite a few kids there. She was strict enough and good at keeping the kids in line, but it was still really fun and educational. The kids absolutely loved it and we got some amazing pictures, it was a really memorable party.

Snakey Sue recently visited our school. She provided fantastic workshops for all our children aged between 4 to 11 years old. Each workshop was tailored to the age group of the children and provided them with lots of information and hands on experiences with the snakes. I would personally recommend snakey due to other school and look forward to meeting her, and her snakes again soon.
