At Phoenix, we specilise in one to one specialist intervention, by qualified personnel. We also offer home tuition and preparation for exams. Currently based in Worthing, however we are able to travel.
Assessments to establish the severity of dyslexia can be undertaken and a variety of multi-sensory tests conducted over a three-hour period. A written report and/or letter detailing the findings will be given after the assessment of each learner.
A one-hour assessment using a computer can be undertaken to establish the presence of dyscalculia. A written report and/or letter detailing the findings will be given after the assessment of each learner.
A series of coloured overlays are used to establish a suitable colour to utilise on everyday written material. The results are often effective and dynamic. The reading tests used are suitable for all abilities and can be undertaken manually or through the use of a computer programme. The use of different coloured writing paper can be suggested and also instructions given on how to change the colour of your computer screen to ease reading and for general use.
One-to-one tuition in a variety of subjects can be undertaken. Specialist assistance and practical advice can also aid the student with learning difficulties and/or dyslexia. Tuition can be given to assist all ages and for all examining bodies, and to meet specific curriculum criteria. Days and times can be arranged in advance and durations suitable to accommodate individual learning capabilities.
We are currently based in Worthing but can also travel. We can offer home tuition.

Phoenix Dyslexia Consultancy have been supporting my daughter Isabel in numeracy and literature for about a year. They provide multi-sensory teaching which is essential to support Dyslexic children in main stream school. Their individually tailored tutoring has built up Isabel’s confidence and it has had a positive impact on her grades already. She was even awarded a certificate for her creative writing at school which would have been unheard of a year ago.
I can highly recommend Anna and the Phoenix Dyslexia Consultancy. My son is on the autistic spectrum, and I have just been confirmed as dyslexic at 42! Anna is very friendly and approachable, with a marvellous way with children. She has taught William to appreciate his gifts and not his struggles. The huge plus is that he now realises that he just learns differently and this can be worked around. Anna has suggested simple solutions for his teacher eg: using a highlighter on a photocopy for comprehension and has taught us coping strategies that can be applied in school, making it easier not only for William, but also his teacher. This has led to a huge increase in his self confidence as he understands that he is not "thick". Anna has shown us both how to turn problems into solutions - and now with her help - I can write essays and punctuate!

I started Phoenix 9 years ago to facilitate Specialist Intervention for learners of all ages. I began with two learners and now have over 100 on the books GCSE English Language and Literature are my speciality subject areas but all subjects can be catered for! I am a BDA Associate Member and have an MSc in Dyslexia. I am PASSIONATE about what I do and always up for a challenge!
I would highly recommend Phoenix Dyslexia and Anna - she has a great manner with children and manages to help them learn without pressurising them. Her approach is brilliant, and effective, and she engages with the children. I've not met another teacher like her.
