We have over 150 junior members in the Club with an age range of 3 years to 18 years. Many of our junior members take part in the coaching programme which caters for all ages and levels from mini red, mini orange, mini green to traditional yellow ball squads.
Non members are welcome to come and try our coaching sessions and we have drop in squads on saturday mornings which are open to non members (pay an additional £1-50 visitors fee on top of the coaching fee) and children attending mid week squads do not need to join the Club until they are mini orange level (9 years). We also run Easter and Summer Camps during the holidays.
We can consider children as young as three years old in the class depending on their concentration" or "We can cater for physically disabled children but please note that the ramp access for wheelchairs is quite long".
For more information on what sessions are available, please see our website.
Pavilion & Avenue Tennis Club is one of only 4 ‘Performance’ clubs in Sussex. ‘Performance’ status is awarded by the LTA to clubs which run their coaching programme to a high level and follow the LTA’s guidelines on mini tennis up to traditional yellow ball.
The Coaching Team are all LTA qualified and licensed which includes CRB checks.
Our programme has many juniors competing in various competitions and has helped players achieve County, Regional and National standards.
The Club also has ‘Clubmark’ status which is a mark of excellence awarded by a sports club’s governing body, for us the LTA, in recognition of following many guidelines concerning club management, coaching and especially those concerning child protection.
Juniors can take part in their own competitions including mini red, orange, green and yellow ball events plus matchplays are run for all those players looking for extra match play opportunities.

I first joined Pavilion And Avenue Tennis Club as an individual when I moved to Hove. Having fallen in love with the place, the coaches and the club environment I was in no doubt where I wanted my children to learn Tennis. I’ve been taking my four children to PATC for 7 years now and we visit daily. The coaches are what make this club so special, they’re so patient, accommodating and enthusiastic towards the children, no matter what their ability and it instils such confidence in them, they look forward to every session and are always improving.
We'd tried another club in Brighton when we first moved here, and the coaches didn't appear to care very much about the children and there was very poor communication. This is the complete opposite to Pavilion and Avenue Tennis Club where we have been so impressed with the coaches - they are aware of each child's strengths and weaknesses. Julie (Head Coach) is amazing in terms of her patience and effort, above and beyond what is expected. Her passion for tennis is phenomenal. As the Club has such a good reputation, this helps to attract a great group of children who are all enthusiastic and eager to learn. Sam is at the club most days, and also attends the summer camps and clubs.
We've all been going to Pavilion and Avenue Tennis Club for over two years now - the children have lessons there and do squads. The quality of the coaching is excellent - all the coaches are great with the children - not only imparting a high technical standard of coaching - but also a very friendly atmosphere.
