MagiKats offers out of school Maths and English tuition suitable for all children from early years to GCSE (ages 4 to 16). Children who want help with their school work want that help NOW. They want topics being covered at school to be more accessible immediately, yet at the same time are likely to have gaps in core skills that need to be filled. This is why we work on two strands simultaneously - to give an immediate boost underpinned by steady consolidation.
Every student has a program that is built just for them. They concentrate on coming to grips with topics that they are covering at school whilst also working on a parallel thread that is put together to fill any gaps that may exist in their core skills.
Special support is available when exams are looming and we offer a special program during the long summer break. MagiKats is a program written by UK educators, in the UK. Our materials are adjusted as necessary to support the school curriculum.
Family life is complicated – w e know that it is hard to fit everything in, so MagiKats tries to help. Students attend a weekly workshop, where an appropriate and wide mix of approaches are incorporated, from textbook-style exercises through educational games to the use of calculators. At the end of each workshop, students usually receive a weekly work pack of five short assignments. These are designed to maintain their learning momentum until their next visit. Answer keys are provided so that parents can give immediate feedback and encouragement at home. Continuity is important, so our Tuition Centre is open all year round. However there is no lengthy tie-in and only one month's notice is required.

Although my kids are rarely enthusiastic about going for extra tuition, they do enjoy the sessions and are happy when they come out Magikats are great at making them feel good and building their confidence. They follow the whole syllabus and it is an opportunity for them to have 1:1 help and progress to the next stage. I can see what they are good at and what they need help with.
My 11 year old daughter has been having sessions with Magikats for approximately a year now. My daughter is quite shy, and not one to put her hand up in class, so these classes are perfect for her as she gets individual attention, and is able to focus on the things that she finds difficult at school. They are very good at communicating with us, and letting us know if there are any areas we can help focus on, and they also do prizegivings for the children.
All four of my children have been to Magikats and my youngest, Rosheen, still does. I really like the consistency and how the lessons can go along in tandem with school work. What is really brilliant is Rosheen can go to Emma and ask for extra help on specific subject topics. Time is so restricted in the normal school day, and there is not a great deal of individual support, so if you don't quite grasp a topic, this can impact on your future learning. My daughter is doing her GCSE Statistics a year early and so Emma is supporting her on any areas that she is struggling with. The support they got from Magikats helped my older children who got great results and gave me great peace of mind.

Thank you for taking the time to look at the MagiKats programme. My workshop runs at the Merrow Methodist Church, next to Bushy Hill School and is lively but focussed. We pride ourselves on the workshop being a friendly, welcoming and productive environment: students enjoy attending and we aim for them all to leave with a sense of achievement.
I have been running after school maths and English classes for over a decade, and I am passionate about helping children achieve their full potential in the least painless way possible! As a teacher I relish the chance to know children for many years, or sometimes their entire school career, and to provide them with security and consistency.
Having worked with various other methods, I decided that MagiKats was the best option for students in my area, thanks to the support we are able to offer on the UK National Curriculum. MagiKats covers both core and applied skills (e.g. grammar alongside free writing), and incorporates activities and personal contact to bring fun to the children’s education. I offer SATs, GCSE and entrance exam revision courses to regularly enrolled students, although short term revision programmes are also available, and can take maths students through the first year of A-level.
My favourite aspect of MagiKats is that students get the individual approach that they need, and that they work in small groups where they are actually taught by a qualified mentor. All of the mentors working with me have been carefully selected to provide support across the full subject and age range. They have all received full training and hold appropriate qualifications, including an enhanced CRB check.
I always welcome new students to my Tuition Centre, and it is possible to visit the workshop by prior arrangement. Please get in touch with me via this site, email or the telephone. I am in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, but am in workshops most afternoons. However, please leave a message on my answerphone and I will call you back, or you can leave a message on or text my mobile.
Following your enquiry, I can usually carry out a placement within a couple of weeks and then your child is welcome to start attending workshops almost immediately. If you have an urgent problem, then please let me know and I will do my best to fit you in. I hope that you find the information here clear and easy to understand. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Welcome to MagiKats Farnham. You will find us in the heart of the town, in Carlton Yard – the newly built complex with access from Central car park. The Mytchett class is held at the Mytchett Community Centre on the main road through Mytchett. Our Tuition Centre is a comfortable, friendly environment to which we welcome our students all year round.
I was the originator of the MagiKats programme and so, of course, it is very close to my heart. Having been involved in education and training for decades, I put it together to allow students who attend to receive a boost at school from their earliest days with us, coupled with any gap filling and consolidation that they may need. It is a joy, every day, to see students benefit whether from enrichment, consolidation or remedial programmes. It is also a pleasure to see them enjoy learning through the range of activities that we offer.
At MagiKats, every student completes work of scope and difficulty that is brought together just for them. They are not just being slotted into a predefined, general linear programme.
I hope you find the information on our website clear (remember to watch the video!) but please do get in touch if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child. I am in the office during most mornings, but am often at workshops in the afternoons. If you leave a message on my answerphone, I will call you back promptly.

My son has been having English classes with MagiKats for some time now, and we use them as a booster to reiterate and reinforce what he learns in class. He now also takes in books that they're studying as part of the GCSE syllabus and Magikats set their own questions for him to work on. They've been brilliantly flexible with my son - he absolutely hates homework, so he stays in the sessions a little longer and completes some of the core homework there. I'd like him now to really concentrate on the GCSE syllabus, and I'm sure they will be able to help him on this.
