Joshua is quite theatrical in character and so really enjoys his time at JK Theatre Arts as it gives him an opportunity to express himself. The teachers are great fun and provide reassurance and support to all the students. As the school is quite small in comparison to some, the staff know the children individually and this leads to a warm, family atmosphere. Going to JK Theatre Arts is the highlight of Joshua's week!
Jada has been going to JK Theatre Arts since she was 3 and was actually Mini Movers first pupil. I like the fact that Mini Movers covers a wide range of disciplines i.e: singing, dancing and drama and that Jada is encouraged in all three. I believe these classes have improved Jada's confidence and also helped her in social situations. Kim is fantastic with all the children. The singing lessons are excellent and Jada has been taught how to sing scales and breathe properly. As she is getting older she has become more involved in the main school productions, even getting to say a couple of lines! Although Jada also attends a separate dance class, I would like the classes to focus on specific dance styles and processes.
Joshua has been going since he was 4 and the girls started in mini movers. They absolutely love Jk. They all really enjoy the classes and I love the personal touch the staff give. The staff are always happy to report back how the class went and make you as parents feel very much included. I always look forward to the end of term show.
My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her JK classes, and the end of term performances are a lovely way of seeing the enjoyment they get from these.

In teaching children aged from 6 to 18, Richard has found his experience at the top end of theatre has helped him bring a different and challenging approach to his students’ previous experiences. His first priority is to establish secure ground rules for a group in order to create a safe, encouraging, fun and confidence building environment in which students feel secure enough to take a leap. Many of his older students, who take drama at GCSE and A level, voice their appreciation of his practical and performance related approach alongside the curriculum and theory based work they often get at school. Recent teaching experience has proved a long held belief that Drama can, not only be fun but build confidence, not just for performing but for life generally. Richard has featured in several films, TV dramas, sit-coms, adverts and radio plays, but, most of his career has been spent in theatre from Fringe through Regional Repertory, Number 1 tours and big West End shows such as “Sunset Boulevard” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. The highlights being over 3 years working each with Alan Ayckbourn, Adrian Noble and Andrew Lloyd Webber respectively, at the National Theatre, RSC World Tour and the London Palladium.
Stephanie studied at The Brit School for Performing arts for 4 years and then continued her professional training at The Centre of Performing Arts vocational college obtaining a Dance and Musical Theatre Diploma and ISTD teacher qualifications. Since graduating Stephanie has continued within the performing world appearing in numerous TV commercials and feature films, dancing for artists such as Kylie Minogue, N-Dubz, Example, George Sampson and Jynx and gigs such as V Festival. Having returned from choreographing the musical ‘Hairspray’ for a tour around the Caribbean and U.S.A, Stephanie has continued to share her passion for the arts teaching at various schools in the South East and gained more teaching qualifications with the IDTA. Stephanie is very excited to be part of the JK team and hopes to develop the talent and enjoyment the students have for the arts.
The girls have been going to JK Theatre Arts for approximately 18 months and have already performed in 4 shows. The classes really engage them, and they have grown in confidence. I like the fact they learn a range of disciplines, including dance and drama. Kim is superb with the children, both in her commitment and enthusiasm. They also communicate well with the parents so we are kept up to date with everything that's going on.
