Enjoy-a-Ball is a multi-sports coaching programme for girls and boys aged between three and nine. All lessons are taught in a caring, positive, fun-filled environment and there are never more than 12 children in a class. Our objective is to make children's first experiences in a sports coaching environment happy and memorable. We can also help you celebrate your child's birthday as our expertise in children's sports coaching, together with our fun-loving nature, make us the ideal party facilitator.
The Enjoy-a-Ball programme gradually develops sports-specific skills and confidence across ten ball sports in a caring, positive and fun environment.
Ten Ball Sports
The programme is divided into three stages each with two levels. The lessons become more challenging as the children's skills progress and each stage lays the foundation for the next. Activities are designed around what a child should be able to do at specific developmental stages.
Small Class Sizes
Children can join Enjoy-a-Ball at any time (level or time of year) as we are careful in grouping children in each class to a similar ball skill ability and age. So, even though there are two-year age ranges for some of the levels, generally the children in all the classes are the same age.
Bee Bops - Stage One (Ages 3-4)
Introduces children to a sporting environment in a fun, non-threatening and caring way. Children learn many basic ball skills. Our objectives are also to develop life skills such as independence, social interaction and confidence. All the lessons are taught with plenty of creativity to engage your child and make their first experience in a sporting environment a positive and happy one.
Play Ball - Stage Two (Ages 4-6)
The emphasis is on developing a wide range of gross motor skills such as bouncing, catching, throwing, balance, timing, etc. The lessons move progressively from easy to more difficult tasks and always end with a fun game. We also develop life skills such as confidence and concentration.
Champs - Stage Three (Ages 6-9)
Children in this stage are introduced to the ten ball sports that we teach. These are basketball, baseball, football, hockey, volleyball, tennis, rugby, cricket, dodgeball and handball. We teach specific skills and rules for each of the sports and children learn to play the game, which also develops spatial perception. The emphasis is on teamwork. Some of the life skills that we develop include sportsmanship values, respect, confidence and concentration. This is the last stage in preparing children for a lifetime of confident and competent sports participation.

Olivia has been going to Enjoy a Ball for 3 years and loves it. As well as having the opportunity to try lots of different ball sports such as tennis, netball, dodge ball, hockey etc, it's also directed towards a team focus. Each week a trophy is awarded to an individual for being player of the week which could be for great team work, determination, or just trying their best. Because of Enjoy a Ball Olivia has gone on to join a professional hockey team and loving it!
The Enjoy a Ball classes are so much fun, even for me to watch. I used to be a nanny and find myself asking why I didn't think of some of the games they do, for example, chasing a ball with a funnel and pretending they are catching a mouse. The children's faces light up each week as if they were reading a great story. I almost want to join in! Nicole and Mads are great teachers and did really well with my two youngest children who both like to be with me and not separated, Bruno cried for ages in the first class and only for three minutes in the second class because he knew it was fun. Nicole showed she cared too as she texted me after both those first classes to make sure everything was alright. By class three Bruno couldn't wait to get there!

Our centre was established by Nicole Airey (known by kids... and parents locally as Nicole the Troll!). Although Nicole studied Neuroscience at University, after a short stint in the field she decided that working with children and teaching sports was more her 'cup of tea' and she hasn't looked back since!
The children have been going to Enjoy A Ball with Nicole since they were 3 and 2 years respectively. The best part of these classes is that they cover all sorts of different sports so encourage a wide range of skills such as catching, throwing, kicking, as well as the social team skills and learning how to join in. I think it's particularly important that they learn to lose gracefully as well as win. The teachers are firm but fun, and we've never had a bad class in all the time we've been going. Now that Theo is older, they learn a specific sport each week so the children always have an opportunity to find something that they can excel at. I am a huge fan of these classes.
