Maya has made great friends at East Sussex Dance and now attends classes 4 days a week. I am very happy with the school who are organised and good at communicating with parents. Alex the teacher is great with the kids and as well as performing in shows Maya has enjoyed learning Ballroom, Ballet, Jazz, Street Dance and Rock and Roll.
My son (10) does ballroom, latin and a weekly private lesson and my daughter (4) attends a disco streetdance lesson for the under 6's. The teachers at East Sussex Dance are so good with the children - very warm and welcoming, and treat them all as individuals. They inspire the children to be "as good as they can be". My son is a very good dancer and they challenge him in his lessons to improve constantly. All the children I know love attending the classes and they are really good value as well.
Olivia has been taking classes with East Sussex Dance for two years now. She loves to dance and really enjoys her ballroom and disco lessons where she has made some wonderful friends.
Both Alex and Marcus are excellent teachers and know just how to bring out the best in their students. They provide a happy and encouraging environment where you can learn at your own pace whilst having the opportunity to participate in medal tests and school productions.
I have no hesitation in recommending East Sussex Dance to anyone looking for a vibrant, inspiring and nurturing dance school.
My son absolutely adores his ballroom lessons. Alex's style has the perfect mix of strictness & fun to get them to pay attention, learn the routines & still love going. It amazes me the things he is learning. It's also really good to see so many other boys in his class.

Born and raised in and around Brighton, Alex has grown up with a love of Music, Dance and the Arts. From an early age she was successful in local Arts Festivals and competitions, qualifying for All England and Blackpool Finals on numerous occasions.
In 2009 Alex founded East Sussex Dance, whilst continuing to further her own teaching qualifications. She is now a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and has lectured for the Society in three faculties. Alex aims to become an examiner one day, however introducing new beginners to the world of dance remains her number one passion.
Marcus stumbled into his first dance class at the age of 18 and quickly caught the bug. His natural talent and enthusiasm for dance were soon realised and he threw himself into the dance school, seizing any opportunity to learn more or simply to assist younger students. He decided to study for his teaching exams and has recently joined the ISTD as an Associate.
Marcus is heavily involved in preparing students for competitions and medal tests, and he plans to further his own dancing by competing at a professional level.
A natural teacher, Steph became involved with East Sussex Dance as an assistant when she was still at school and trained for her full teaching qualification at the earliest opportunity! She is a talented dancer and gymnast with a wealth of performance experience and has a passion for introducing young people to the world of dance.
Steph heads up the Street Dance and Hip Hop classes within the school, choreographing for shows and entering students for medal tests.
Emily has been dancing with Alex since she was in Year 8. One of the best things about East Sussex Dance is that Alex provides such a wide range of different dancing styles to try and is very supportive. She has given Emily such confidence in what she does and this has extended to all areas of her life. Emily is now continuing to study dance at college and still studies many styles of dance with Alex. Alex has built a wonderful relationship with Emily who trusts her and her judgement.
