Charley's Little Kitchen in Hove

  1. The first step to eating healthily is understanding food and how to cook it. Being able to knock up a meal from basic ingredients is becoming a rare ability and parents don’t necessarily have the time to spend the extra hours in the kitchen allowing the kids to make the mistakes and chaos that inevitably ensues. Leave that to a rainy Sunday and let us do the hard work for you!

At Charley's Little Kitchen children get to taste, touch, smell and most importantly cook loads of different foods. Our recipes are based around essential cooking skills and knowledge, learning about where food comes from as well as what you can turn it into. Interactive quizzes, games and taste testing get children involved in new foods, you may be surprised at what they come home liking.

Cooking is not only a fantastic way to fine tune motor skills, but also enhances mathematical abilities and literacy. Following recipes, measuring out ingredients and using their hand-eye coordination gets kids learning without even realising it!

    Weekly Classes

    2.15 - 3.15 Parents and Preschool

Kids, bring your parents along to a fun filled hour of cooking and mess (which they don't have to clear up!) Every week we'll be exploring food using all our senses and you'll go home with your treats to show off and enjoy.

    3.40 - 5.30 After School Grub!

Join us after school as we teach you how to make amazing meals from scratch. Learn all about food, where it comes from and what you can turn it into. Try new ingredients and most importantly have fun! You don't need to bring anything; if we don't eat what we make, we'll provide you with plenty of healthy snacks to keep you going till you get home.

    Holiday Workshops

Our holiday workshops are for children aged 7 - 11 years. During the day children get to make their own lunch, try loads of new flavours, make a healthy afternoon snack and come home with at least one creation to show off to friends and family. Every participant also receives a certificate of achievement, skills and knowledge sheets and recipes to try out at home. See our website for more information and how to book.

My little girl (aged 7) went to Charley’s Kitchen for the day. It was a Mexican themed day and they all cooked lunch together and also came home with some food and recipes. The day is great as it teaches them, and introduces them, to new foods that they may not have tried themselves. The classes only have 8 kids in so they are very small and intimate. Charley is great with the kids, the facilities were great and it was lovely for her to do something different and educational.

Liora: I went to one cookery class which was great. We made Guacamole, Humus and Salsa and I really liked the spices. Charley was really good and kind. Dad: the class was fantastic as the kids learnt how to cook but also about nutrition and food categories. Since going, they have been pointing out how balanced (or unbalanced) are home meals are!

Charley has found her calling in giving cooking classes for kids! She used to be our child minder and so she makes children feel very quickly at ease. My two eldest children are very different and have different skill levels when it comes to cooking but both really enjoyed the classes and both learnt from them. Charley teaches them life skills but they feel like they have had lots of fun and have made something nice. The classes are fun and relaxed (not like school) and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
