Updates on Layla's progress in her sponsored Dance classes
Layla is one of the lucky children to be sponsored in 2015. She'll be taking dance classes with Prompt Corner Dance Academy in Poole and you can see how much she progresses over the year.
Update from Mum (Date: 9/10/15)
Layla has started back at ballet after the summer school holiday and has had a brilliant time. She's really enjoying ballet and likes to stay for a little bit to see the next class of older girls having their lesson, as she gets excited seeing what she'll be learning as she progresses.
It's nice watching all the kids dance and learn new skills, whilst chatting to the other parents. It's always interesting to share stories about our little ones and hearing how some are confident whereas others are a little shy but gaining more confidence. Layla seems happy and confident around all of the other children. She hopes to be able to do the splits by the end of the year!
Update from Mum (Date: 8/9/15)
There have been no classes during the summer holidays. They are due to start again Thursday 10th. Layla is looking forward to starting ballet classes again now that the new school term has started. I hope there will be no more nervous tears when going to class each week, as Layla has really developed in confidence since July.
Update from Mum (Date: 7/8/15)
Layla has been attending classes every Thursday afternoon. The best thing about the class is seeing Layla socialise more and enjoy routine. The last month or so have been a little bit of a struggle as Layla began to get nervous about the ballet show at the local Pavillion and expressed these nerves through crying and not wanting to join in. However, she still participated in the lessons and showed me that although she was upset, she still joined in and managed to overcome her nerves. She's talking about the other children in the class when we're at home and she looks forward to seeing them each week. She's much more confident around new people and asks a lot more questions to find out about them.
Layla has quite a few big changes coming up, such as starting school in September, moving up to the next level in her swimming lessons and her first ever ballet performance (performance of any kind) and she has been expressing her emotions of all this through getting upset easily. She started getting upset during her ballet lessons in the run up to the performance and unfortunately was too shy on the day of the performance to dance on stage. Although this was quite a setback in her progress, she loves ballet and we're confident that once the new ballet term starts in September, she will have settled in to all the other changes going on and will be back to enjoying her lessons and learning new dance skills. Hopefully over the next period shewill become more confident to participate in a show.
