Updates on Alana's progress in her sponsored Maths classes
Alana is one of the lucky children to be sponsored in 2015. She'll be learning Maths with Magikats Maths and English Workshop in Guilford and you can see how much she progresses over the year.
Update from Mum (Date: 13/12/15)
Alana has been practicing her times table, as the certificates are awarded for each one that she could pass. She is very proud of her achievements. Alana has found a couple of new friends at MagiKats sessions. I can't think of any big challenges apart from choosing a prize ;-) At MagiKats they reward children for good work by stamping their individual cards each week. When the card is full you are entitled to pick a prize!
The areas they have been working on include addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, shapes (geometry), time/clocks, etc. I hope Alana will continue to enjoy her classes. In fact, she likes MagiKats so much that in addition to her Maths lessons we've decided as of January to sign her up for English sessions as well.
Update from Mum (Date: 30/6/15)
What Alana has enjoyed most about her classes are the friendly atmosphere games and "Fun homework" (in her own words!)
I can see that my she is confident to approach her MagiKats teacher if she is not sure about any task. She is excited to work with other children at her table and interacts with them freely. Nothing really has been difficult. We have had an amazing month at MagiKats.
Alana was a little bit anxious before the very first session but no worries ever since. After the placement session I received a feedback which outlined Alana's strong and weak points but it was delivered in a positive way. My daughter received a very warm welcome both in class and on her homework sheet. I am hoping that my daughter will have all the skills necessary to successfully pass her 7+ exams next year.
