Ususally regarded as a child's instrument due to its simplicity and size, the Recorder is not difficult to get a tune from, but to play it well requires a good teacher and lots of practise. Recorder lessons are often a school aged child's first opportunity to play an instrument and learn to read music. More of a challenge still, and perhaps for slightly older children, is the flute.
