Babyballet - Child safety, health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do

Following recent reports in the media about the dangers of unqualified ballet teachers putting children’s health at risk, babyballet issued a statement to reassure parents that their ballet classes are exceptionally safe.

Choosing the right ballet class

“Child safety, health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything that we do."

We have invested a vast amount of time, effort and expertise into ensuring that our child-centred curriculum is outstanding, providing fun and enriching learning opportunities within a safe and structured environment. Our qualified babyballet teachers hold countless other dance industry training and teaching qualifications including RAD, ISTD, IDTA, BBO, Ceccheti and BA Honours degrees, and also undergo DBS checks, first aid training and ongoing assessments to guarantee excellent standards of teaching in each and every class nationwide.

Our co-founder, Barbara Peters, is a lifetime member of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and has examined across the world as a children's RAD examiner. She has dedicated her life to teaching children to dance throughout her 70-year association with the RAD and now also with babyballet.

'babyballet' founder, Claire O'Connor, said: “Since babyballet began in 2005, Barbara and I have worked closely to implement a stringent recruitment, training and ongoing support programme for all babyballet teachers.

“Our classes are all about learning through play. That means learning fundamental ballet movements, with a particular emphasis on having fun. Anyone who is familiar with babyballet will know that we would never endanger our pupils with advanced or improperly taught techniques and that our teachers are professional and passionate about teaching children to dance.

“So, rest assured, your children are in very, very safe hands.”
