What's Happening in Hitchin Issue #3

Hello

Hello Hitchin! My name is Jenny and I’m your new Hub Leader for the Hitchin area. I’m mum to two girls and aim to find the best of what’s on in the local area for you every fortnight.

Since the last newsletter, we have had our first camping trip as a family! We didn’t venture too far though – just down the road to Henlow Bridge Lakes for a two-night stay. If you are thinking of testing out camping or fancy a break without a long drive, I can highly recommend it. Fantastic play areas, well-maintained amenities block and electric hookup! Lots of fun for the whole family.

In Stevenage, Cineworld will have a selection of films on offer each weekend as part of the Movies for Juniors offer. All seats are priced at £2.50. Check their website to see what’s on offer. On 1st and 2nd July choose from Smurfs: The Lost Village and The Boss Baby!

Theatre

The fantastic programme of children’s shows at the new theatre in Letchworth continues...

 On 4th July, Sarah and Duck are planning a Big Top Birthday at Broadway Theatre in Letchworth! Join them live on stage as they plan Scarf Lady's birthday party through a fantastic blend of puppetry, storytelling and music. Book your tickets online.

Illyria Theatre group return to Knebworth House on Thursday 13th July, with a performance of “The Lost World”. Recommended for older children and their families, this play is a must for any dinosaur fans as they relive Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic tale.

Parks

Splash Parks across the area are now open for the Summer season in the following parks:

* Bancroft Gardens, Hitchin

* Howard Park and Garden, Letchworth

* Avenue Park, Baldock

* Fairlands Valley, Stevenage

Outdoor pools are also now open in Hitchin and Letchworth too – let’s hope we get nice weather this Summer to really enjoy them!

Visit the NHDC website for more info and opening times.

Bancroft Gardens has a new addition to the play area – opening any day now!

A new climbing structure and pendulum swing will be erected a short distance from the existing play equipment - the popular toddler’s pirate ship park. It is hoped that this will make the park more appealing to older children and teenagers too. We can’t wait to try it out!
