hello

Hello Hitchin!

My name is Jenny and I’m your new Hub Leader for the Hitchin area. I’m mum to two girls and aim to find the best of what’s on in the local area for you every fortnight.

Summer is in full swing – for now at least! Fruit picking is now available at Graveley Fruit Farm for the season and the strawberries are delicious at the moment!

My daughters visited last week and had a great time picking fruit for tea with Granny. They also love feeding the pigs and running around in the fantastic playground including a zip wire and little maze.

Check their Facebook page to check opening days and what’s available to pick.

Finally, don’t forget, on Sunday 18th June it’s Father’s Day. There are lots of local events on including free entry for Dads at Standalone Farm in Letchworth and Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne!

You can also keep in touch with the local Facebook page for more information and pictures.

parks and recreation

Splash Parks across the area are now open for the Summer season in the following parks:

Bancroft Gardens, Hitchin

Howard Park and Garden, Letchworth

Avenue Park, Baldock

Fairlands Valley, Stevenage

Outdoor pools are also now open in Hitchin and Letchworth too – let’s hope we get nice weather this Summer to really enjoy them!

Visit the NHDC website for more info and opening times.

Work on the revamped Skate Park in Howard Park, Letchworth is now underway.

The project to give the skate park a £140,000 makeover is expected to take around three months to complete.

While the works are in progress the older children’s play area at the Common will be closed to public access.

However, the junior children’s play area opposite the outdoor pool will remain open throughout the build period.
