What's Happening in Edinburgh - 17.07 – 30.07

hello

Two weeks of the school holidays down! How’s that bucket list coming along?

We have been super busy moving house, how on earth did we end up with SO MUCH STUFF? Thank goodness we are all in now… we just need to unpack!

Poor Teddy has mostly been playing ‘packing’ and ‘unpacking’ but I did set up a great sensory activity for him in the garden. I froze a selection of toy dinosaurs in blocks of ice and we had a lovely morning freeing them from their icy tombs!

This is a really simple activity, with very little prep, although you do need to think ahead to allow them to freeze; extend the play by encouraging discussion about how the ice feels. Is it hard or soft? Warm or cold? Smooth or rough?

I also asked Teddy what we should use to break them out, he suggested ‘A hitting thing and a pokey thing’… we used a spoon!

Great preparation for our next visit to Ocean Terminal, see below for more details.

Roar! Dinosaurs Return to Ocean Terminal, 17th July – 13th August

After visiting the Dinosaurs at Ocean Terminal in spring 2016, Teddy now asks to see them every time we visit… We are so excited that they are back!

Twelve animatronic model dinosaurs take over the centre across three floors and nine locations. As well as coming face to face with T-Rex, Spinosaurus, Raptorex and Troodon, you can even excavate dinosaur bones in the giant sand pit on the first floor.

In addition to the models, workshops will be running 12-4pm weekdays and 11am-5pm at the weekends.

The workshop activities are free and run on a drop-in, first come, first served basis and may get very busy.
