Play Dates Challenge Day 7 - Funny Portraits

07 Feb 2016 Posted by: A KalliKids Champion

Day 4 of Champion Carly's challenge to spend 15 minutes each day for a week on a play date with your kids.

Make hilarious portraits of people

This is a fun activity that usually gets everyone laughing and you can draw several during your 15 minute bonding session today.

You start with a clean sheet of paper and turn it to use as portrait instead of landscape so that it will all fit down the page. The first person draws the head and face and the neck to be used as a guideline for the next person. Once the head is done fold the paper so that only the small neck lines are sticking out underneath. The second person then has a guideline of where to start the neck and continue drawing the upper body and arms. They leave the outline of where the lower body should start and once they have folded over and hidden their part of the drawing it’s onto the next person (or back with the first person depending on how many are playing). The lower body is drawn and covered in the same way on leaving a guideline of where the legs should start. Once the legs have been drawn and folded over the last person draws the feet. You then unfold the sheet of paper and reveal the strangest looking person or animal ever drawn. The idea is to make each part you do as detailed as possible, so that your granny face with glasses and a large nose, looks hilarious on the body builder body with hairy hippo legs and pink high heels.

The sillier you can make each section the more rewarding the end result and I am sure this will get you all laughing and having fun together.

I hope you have enjoyed spending all this quality time with your children and I hope it is something you will aim to do consistently if it has brought you much joy and happiness over the last week. If you can think of other special things to do with your kids in a short amount of time please feel free to share your thoughts and comment below.
