Great Shows for 4-7 Year Olds at This Year's Fringe

Brighton Fringe is bursting with shows to entertain children of all ages. There are an amazing 100 shows listed in the Fringe Kids and Youth programme. We’ve rounded up our favourites for kids aged 4 to 7 years old.


Arr We There Yet?

When: 6 May – 4 June

Where: Old Steine Gardens

A rip-roaring and swashbuckling adventure in which three sailors hit the high seas in search of treasure!

A scallywag pirate, a muscular sailor and a chef with a seafood allergy make for a hopeless crew, as they fight for the title of Captain aboard the ship.

These acrobatic pirates turn ship-life upside down! Walking the plank becomes the high-flying teeterboard, cooking for the crew involves juggling knives and steering the ship spinning upside down in the roue cyr!

Oliver in the Overworld

When: 7 May

A madcap musical for 3-7 year-olds and families. Created by multi-award-winning artistic director Kinny Gardner with puppets, transformations, 10 super songs and daft dances, featuring fully integrated Sign Language, this is an ingenious and imaginative theatre show with big laughs!

The Wind in the Willows

When: 4 June

From the peaceful pleasure of Ratty’s beloved riverbank to the fearful frights and wicked weasels of the Wild Wood, join Mole and Ratty on their marvellous adventures, along with gruff old Badger and magnificent Mr Toad.

A beautiful new adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s much-loved classic by award-winning Box Tale Soup. ‘The Wind in the Willows’ features handmade puppets, props, costumes and a charming original score.


Dogs Don’t Do Ballet

When: 3 – 4 June

The very funny tale of a small dog with big dreams! Biff is not like other dogs. He doesn’t do dog stuff like weeing on lampposts, scratching his fleas or drinking out of the toilet. No, Biff likes moonlight and music and walking on his tiptoes. You see, Biff doesn’t think he’s a dog. He thinks he’s a ballerina!

Based on the bestselling children’s book by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie, this fabulous feel-good show features music, songs, hand-crafted puppets and Biff, the ballet-dancing dog!

Brought to the stage by acclaimed Blunderbus, this hilarious new story for ages 3+ tells the very funny tale of a small dog with big dreams!


Dr Zeiffal, Dr Zeigal and the Hippo that Can Never be Caught

Calling all hippo expert enthusiasts!  Award-winning family comedy that will have kids storming the stage. Join Dr Zeiffal on the hunt for the hippo that can never be caught! Featuring: the Invisible Hippo Blanket, the Hippo Google Googles and a blizzard of Hippo packaging.

Expect belly laughs, belly flops and fantastical falling over in this brilliant new adventure created by Mouths of Lions.
