Aquatots swim the Channel for NSPCC!

05 Dec 2013 Posted by: Guest blogger

Aquatots is one of the largest swimming schools in the South East and teach babies from 10 weeks old to the age of 6 and 7 when all are accomplished swimmers.

A big part of the Aquatots journey is a child's first independent 5 metre swim around the age of 3. Then on to some fantastic distances with children as young as 5 achieving anything from 500 to 2000 metres. Pretty amazing considering the National Curriculum specifies children are able to swim only 25m when they leave primary school aged 11.

This term we decided to set our little swimmers a challenge and support the fantastic work of the NSPCC.

SWIM THE ENGLISH CHANNEL!

All of the kids have been swimming like crazy in pools across the South East including some of our youngest toddlers making their first independent swims. We have combined all their individual distances and…

They’ve done it!

Together they have achieved 68000 metres! That’s almost 42 miles! (The Channel is 33,800 metres / 21 miles).

With some swimmers still to go, who knows, they may all make it back by Christmas!

If you would like to send a message of support to our Aquatots little swimmers please leave a comment below. And if you are able to support the amazing work of the NSPCC financially this Christmas please donate here www.justgiving.com/aquatots.

Happy Christmas
