Laura and Cara have both attended The Fashion School's Summer School, and Laura now goes to the tween's weekly sessions. They have both enjoyed learning sewing and design skills. Caroline is so enthusiastic - she involves and encourages her students, and interacts really well with all ages. Laura is enjoying designing her own clothes at the weekly sessions and we are looking forward to the Fashion Show next Summer where she will have a chance to tread the catwalk and show off her hard work. The skills she is learning are very relevant today when we need to reinvent or make our own clothing.
Caroline also arranges trips to help inspire the kids such as London Fashion Week. It's been great to find an activity that engages teenage girls and they are enthusiastic about!
Rebecca presently attends the Saturday morning workshops. Caroline goes above and beyond in what she gives her pupils, not only in how talented she is but, how warm and friendly she is. The kids love the relaxed, creative environment she manages to create. Rebecca has learnt so much and is so excited about attending!
Caroline is a fantastic teacher. She is lively and always smiling. Her enthusiasm rubs off on the children and they are always happy and super creative. my daughter has become fond of sewing and she is fabulous at it too.
Having tried many clubs and activities Ami has finally found something she loves doing and feels she is good at. She clearly feels totally at home in the great space Caroline has created and has told me that she feels like she can really be herself there (which is music to my ears!) :)
Caroline is so enthusiastic and caring of her students and regularly comes up with new sewing patterns and inspirational day trips, like the Alexander McQueen show at the V&A; in London which blew Ami away! I can't recommend Caroline and her sewing school enough and would like to thank her for all her hard work and effort.

I’ve taught my unique sewing programme for over 20 years and it works! We use our specially designed for children to use clothes patterns to help children design and sew clothes they actually want to wear. I love working with children and teenagers, from complete beginners upwards. I've tutored fashion at various London and UK top art schools within universities from beginners to MA students, so I know my stuff – as do the other tutors on board! I hold an MA from The Royal College of Art. I’m CRB checked, insured and have two lovely daughters of my own. I’m also very experienced tutoring children and of my specialist programme is , 'Little Miss Fashion' for 6-9 olds introducing shy little ones to sewing and making their own clothes at their own pace. I also teach eager 9 -12s plus fashion savvy teens - I really enjoy their enthusiasm and energy! I strongly believe in promoting a positive and healthy attitude to all the fashionistas attending the course, enabling each one feel special and confident about themselves. Fashion is for everyone!
Kerry is a vital part of the fashion school and brings warmth, expertise and laughter to all of our classes, parties and workshops. Über stylish with her finger on anything that's trendy, fun and fashionable in Brighton, all the children love to be around her and follow her avidly on social media. Caring, patient and encouraging to all of our youngsters, Kerry always gives great design suggestions and machine tips whenever she's working at The Fashion School! In her own words.... ' I studiedFashion Design at Thames Valley University, specialising in Print Design, graduating in 2008. Since then I have developed a popular online blog called ‘Yours Truly,x’, which has featured in Company Magazine, Dazed & Confused, Little Thing Magazine as well as H&M and Liberty online. I love working with children and the energy and enthusiasm makes this such a great job. I love sewing, textiles and fashion and hope my other art interests bring breadth to the classes. I am currently working on a film photography book which explores the aesthetic inspirations of young creatives, as well as creating a botany inspired print collection with a local illustrator.”
Alice ALWAYS wears clothes she’s sewn herself, what greater source of inspiration for the children? In addition to being a tutor at the Fashion School -some of you might recognise our ‘zip queen’ Alice from Fabricland! Not only is she at hand to advise the children and teenagers on all their sewing needs – but she also has a BA and runs her own business, ‘Curious Alice Studio’. Alice in her own words below! “I teach with Caroline on Saturday mornings and during the holidays at the fashion school. I studied textiles at college and university where I discovered my love for fabrics and creating. I have my own business called ‘Curious Alice Studio’ where I sell hand made and hand dyed silk scarves online through Etsy. Dressmaking and alterations are another service I offer for clients. I also work part time in a local fabric shop where I enjoy helping and advising customers.”
Bel has dyslexia and attending the Fashion School Workshops has helped her build self confidence and learn new skills while developing her creative side. Caroline is enthusiastic, showing children how they can create their vision while giving loads of positive feedback. All the materials were provided at the workshops Bel attended. She loved it!
