fairs and events

Champion Chanzige Camping 2017
14th from 2pm – 16th July, Midday
Bodiam Boating Station, TN18 5PP

Champion Chanzige Camping weekend – Useful information!

Fri 14th

Turn up, anytime after 2pm. We have a few big groups this year so if you could stick to roughly where I have suggested that would be really helpful.

I have sent most of you an email with a map attached. The café at the site will be open during the day, over the whole weekend but not in the evenings.

On Friday evening either bring your own dinner to cook or try the pub just up the road, there is even a kebab van just over the bridge which we are led to believe is very good!

The organisers are worried that the facilities may not be sufficient for all of us so please keep showers to a minimum, make use of my shower tent or use the magical Wash Wizards that we will be selling over the weekend.

Sat 15th

Breakfast in the café or rustle up some sort of culinary delight yourselves!

Please yourselves during the day. Take a ride up the river in the ex-Navy Lifeboat, to Bodiam or catch the steam train from Northiam Station. You must book the ferry to guarantee a place as spaces are limited. There are also rowing boats and kayaks for hire; again, booking early is probably advisable.

Barry the photo booth will be open in the afternoon, either make a donation to take a picture with your own camera or let us take it and for £1.50 for 1 or £5 for 4, you can take your photo booth picture away with you in the form of a small sticker!

The cocktail bar will open from 5pm, there will be four different alcoholic cocktails and a mocktail for the kids, we will also be selling bottles of prosecco.

The live music will start at around 6pm but has to be over by 10.30pm so as not to upset the locals!

Sun 16th

Breakfast pancakes will be available this morning leaving you to concentrate on packing up and enjoying your day. A small donation for the pancakes would be appreciated.

You need to be off your pitch by around 11am. There is a large car park where you can leave your car. You may want to think about taking the boat up to Bodiam or getting out on the river after you have packed away and before you head for home.

Pirate Day
Sunday 16th July all day, throughout Hastings

A spectacular day full of colour, action and non-stop events. Current holders of the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Gathering of Pirates’.

Hastings turns into the pirate capital of the world with thousands dressed as pirates with spectacular events, live pirate music, processions, swashbuckling action in a day of non-stop entertainment.

A parachute display team from the Army will also be dropping by as part of this year’s Pirate Day festivities. The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment’s Parachute display team, The Tigers, plan to drop from more than 10,000ft, landing on Hastings Pier.

At warrior square, there will be 2 walks at 10:30 and 11:45 which will start at St Clements Church steps and then go around the old town for roughly an hour and 15 mins telling various ghost and pirate stories which will be done with actors. See poster below for the full towns programme of events.

Mad Hatters Family Garden Party and Country Fair, in support of St Michaels Hospice.

Set in the stunning grounds of Mad Hatters in Bodiam East Sussex TN32 5RA, this will be a fabulous family day out with lots of FREE events such as Storytelling, animal petting, juggling, bubble balloons, gardens and picnic area.

We will also be showcasing many handpicked exhibitors selling contemporary and vintage homewares, garden accessories, fabulous fashion and jewellery as well as food and drink.

All products sold at the fair are chosen for their exceptional quality, good craftsmanship, originality and fine design. Stay for the whole day: food vendors will be selling mouth-watering treats, or bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds; we want to ensure our visitors have plenty of opportunities to relax, refuel and have fun.

This year we are pleased to be working with, and in support of, St Michaels Hospice. Each year, they provide specialist palliative care to people across Hastings and Rother, and we look forward to raising funds for this worthy cause.

This will be the 6th family event held at Mad Hatters and is set to be the biggest and best yet so don’t miss the event everyone talks about.
