What's Happening in Epsom & Ewell Issue #1

16 Jun 2017 Posted by: Guest blogger

Welcome to What’s Happening in Epsom and Ewell issue 1.

In this edition I’ll be talking about what’s going on locally but firstly I would like to say how much I am saddened by this week’s fire in London, such a tragic event and my heart goes out to all involved.

What has been nice to see is the community support for those affected with lots of local businesses and those in the community arranging donations to be transported to the victims. Anthony Burdett is doing all he can via The Big Warm Up and Danetree School is having a donation morning on the 19th June.

If you are looking for somewhere to go this weekend where you can dip your toes in the water why not head down to the “secret” beach approximately 45 minutes drive away, or if you don’t mind travelling head down to West Wittering could be a nice treat for Fathers Day.

Do let me know if there are any community or charity events that you would like to share details of with the local community and don't forget to follow the local KalliKids Surrey page for details of other local activities and services in the area.

If you are feeling lucky why not enter our “Win a Beach Hut and Seaside Playhouse from Kiddiewinkles” competition.

We also have plenty of other competitions to enter….good luck!

the weather

On a lighter note, I hope you’ve been enjoying the sunshine as there is more to come with Saturday and Sunday forecast to be 28 and 29 degrees so stock up on lots of suncream.

other news

Epsom Hospital has some new recruits to keep patients happy, two friends have joined the team, Alfie the Golden Retriever and his friend, to help calm young anxious patients and take their minds off their illness/condition during their visits.

Woohooo! Local residents are celebrating after previously being “united in anger” regarding plans to build four houses on a small strip of green space on Link Road has now been dismissed. It was thought if plans went ahead it would have destroyed habitat for badgers, birds and mature trees.

Well done residents for standing your ground.
